4 Steps to Better Business Workshops

This valuable course would normally cost £1,200 but we are offering it free to people who are passionate about starting up or growing their business by committing to the four workshops, so please only register if you can do this. The limited places (12) will be offered on a first come first served basis

4 Steps to Better Business is a funded programme by Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce in partnership with StartMyBiz, to provide a set of four individual workshops designed to discuss key areas of modern business support.

Workshop 1 – 27th March 2018 – How ready am I to start my own business?

The recent growth in the national economy is apparently driven by new Start-Ups and Small Businesses. However it is clear that starting a new business is a big step,especially if you have never run your own business before. Survival rates for new businesses are not high with many failing – our workshop is designed to give an honest and helpful guide on whether starting your own business is right for you, and to fully assess your readiness to start trading. There are clearly two key questions:

Are you ready and able to start your own business?
Have you done the essentials prior to launch?

Workshop 2 – 10th April 2018 – How to run a more efficient business

This session will allow you to plan an efficient business that makes a profit, serves the customers and doesn’t take up all your spare time. You will learn how to allocate tasks, motivate staff, be competitive yet profitable, attract more customers and meet your legal obligations. Running a business carries great responsibility; your business must operate within the law. You will also discover the benefits of creating a business plan for your new or developing enterprise.

Workshop 3 – 24th April 2018 – How to gain and retain profitable customers

Marketing is a crucial activity that every business undertakes in order to gain customers, but for start-ups and most small businesses it can be difficult to know how to approach effectively. Many small businesses undertake a lot of marketing but it is not effective timewise and is often a waste of money. This workshop will show you how to approach it logically and do it in an effective and profitable way that is right for you and your business.

Target audience:
• New start-ups (those about to start trading to those trading for less than two years) – how to set up and implement marketing that brings you your first customers
• Companies already established, and who may have been trading for a few years, but wish to improve the effectiveness of their marketing

Desired outcome:
All attendees to have improved their clarity and confidence in the process of identifying and implementing both strategic and tactical marketing … which will be effective in attracting new profitable target customers.

Workshop 4 – 15th May 2018 – Becoming my own virtual consultant

The final session will show you how to step back from the intricacies of your business and look at things from a different point-of-view. Many people are very good at their own trade or business, but not necessarily so good at running a business. You will look at customer expectations including a brief introduction to the psychology of buying/selling. Valuable lessons can be learned from investigating other businesses and you will discover how to apply this knowledge. Finally, you will draft a new outline business plan and create a timeline for action.
