Description

Medway Council is working in partnership with SSE Enterprise (SSE) to deliver multiple energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects throughout the borough, to reduce CO2 emissions and energy costs as part of the Council’s RE:FIT programme.

Both Medway Council (MC) and Kent County Council (KCC) have declared a Climate Change Emergency and have stated that they will be taking action across both authorities. The work is championed by Cllr Howard Doe and led by Assistant Director Frontline Services Ruth De Lieu. MC and KCC are publishing a joint approach called the ‘Kent and Medway Energy and Low Emissions Strategy’, its strategic vision being ‘to have reduced emissions to net zero by 2050 and to be benefitting from a competitive, innovative and resilient low carbon economy’. MC has established its carbon baseline and has started to identify a pathway to net zero carbon by 2050, including a number of workstreams which they intend to deliver via RE:FIT.

To this end SSE, who will be MC’s delivery partner for the works, would like to meet with local businesses to offer them the opportunity to be involved in the development and delivery of works on multiple MC properties, including iconic buildings like Gun Wharf, Brook Theatre, Medway Park Leisure Centre and more. The works are aimed at making the buildings more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, helping to reduce CO2 emissions and improve the local environment and will include projects such as:
• Solar Panel Installation
• Air conditioning & heating systems
• Low carbon heating
• Electrical works
• Lighting
• Plumbing works

If you would like to find out more about the work available, and to get involved with this transformative project please join us at our “Teams Live Event” as noted below. At the event SSE will discuss opportunities for local businesses to tender to be part of the works. The SSE team will also discuss the assistance available to become an SSE approved subcontractor, or supplier, as well as what is expected from an approved sub-contractor or supplier.
