As of 1 January 2021, trade between the UK and the EU is governed by a new Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA). This means that new rules apply to the trade, travel and business conducted between the UK and the EU.  In order to help businesses navigate through this change, Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce brings you a highly interactive EU Transition: Ask The Experts session, where the content will be led by you!

During registration, you will be asked to submit any questions you have around the current EU Transition for our panel of experts, then join the event live on the day to hear your questions answered.

Deirdre Wells OBE, CEO
Visit Kent – Hospitality and Tourism

Deirdre Wells OBE was appointed as CEO of Visit Kent in September 2018.  Deirdre is also CEO of Go to Places, an organisation created by the company, to deliver services to partners outside, and in partnership with Kent, including setting up the new Destination Management Organisation, Visit Hertfordshire, the Big Weekend and a number of national tourism projects under the Government’s Discover England Fund.

Prior to her appointment to Visit Kent, Deirdre was Chief Executive of UKinbound, representing nearly 400 UK inbound tourism businesses.  Deirdre joined UKinbound following 20 years in Government at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport working on a variety of high-profile projects including the Millennium Dome, Liverpool Capital of Culture 2008 and the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games, and latterly as Head of Tourism.

Deirdre is Chair of English Tourism Week and sits on the Board of the Tourism Society and the Tourism Alliance.


Graham Card, Import and Export Adviser
Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce – Export and Import

Graham Card is an International Trade Adviser for Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce as well as Director of Corporate Liquidity Partners Limited. Graham specialises in Commercial Finance and International Trade, helping business owners obtain the finance facilities they need to trade in the UK and internationally. Facilities employed include Invoice Discounting, Factoring, Trade Finance and all types of Asset Based Finance as well as Commercial Loans.

Graham regularly delivers training courses to assist exporters and importers. The most popular is entitled ‘Letters of Credit demystified’ delivered at a number of venues most frequently on behalf of the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce.
Projects to assist clients with trade development have been undertaken in mainland Europe as well as the Indian sub continent.


Nathan Martin, Principle Trading Standards Officer
Trading Standards – Food and Drink

Nathan is a Principal Trading Standards Officer for Kent Trading Standards, is an expert in food standards legislation, and will shortly take up the post of Food Lead Officer.  He has almost 20 years of Trading Standards experience, initially in enforcement, but for the last five years his primary focus has been supporting local businesses with professional business advice and support, going so far as to appear before the European Commission to raise awareness of an issue affecting the construction industry both locally and nationally.

Since 2017 he has authored guidance notes for the Business Companion website and he is currently re-writing the food modules for the Chartered Trading Standards Institute E-Learning College. He has delivered training on food standards to both businesses and Trading Standards and Environmental Health professionals on behalf of Kent County Council and as a private trainer.


Sue Rathmell, VAT Specialist
MHA MacIntyre Hudson – VAT 

Sue is an Indirect Tax specialist with more than 25 years’ experience in VAT, Insurance Premium Tax, excise and customs duties. She joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in April 2017 and heads up the Indirect Tax services in the Kent region.

Sue spent 5 years as an in-house Indirect Tax Manager at Saga plc. Before that Sue worked for a Big 4 firm in London and in Central Europe and initially she worked for HMRC. Sue is a Chartered Tax Advisor.

With experience with over 50’s tour operator Saga under her belt, Sue is a travel VAT specialist, helping tour operators understand the Tour Operators’ Margin Scheme (known as TOMS) which calculates how much VAT is due on holidays. TOMS is also used in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) world.
