Under the Government’s current plan for Making Tax Digital for Business (MTDfB), small businesses, the self employed and landlords with an annual income of £10,000 or more will have to keep digital accounting records using software and update HMRC quarterly on their summary income and expenditure through a digital platform.
The changes will come into effect in stages from April 2018 and by 2020 all businesses will be required to comply.
